Thanked: 16Winchester Straight?
I was at the Winchester house in San Jose and saw Winchester straight razors in the display case! Has anyone else seen one of these?

Yes I have although the ones I've seen have been in poor condition.
If you find any Winchester straights in decent condition you should buy them. They are highly sought after by some as a collectible and those collectors pay a high price for such pieces. Same with Remington. Most that would buy those types of razors would be putting them on display rather than use them; to be displayed with all the other Winchester or Remington related memorabilia. It's of higher importance to them that the NAME is on the piece rather than that the piece is a straight razor. Much like Keen Kutter collectors or even Case collectors. It's actually for this very reason that I typically avoid bidding on such straight razors since it has to be figured a significant portion of those bidding against me most likely have absolutely no interest in using the razors for shaving but are willing to jockey back and forth driving up the prices of said razors.

Thanked: 10There is a antique store near me that has one for sale for $80 odd dollars. Looks great. I just can't bring myself to pay that kind of money now.
Now if it were a USMC.........maybe.

Saw one in MO. was not in very good shape and they wanted way too much for it. So as far as I know it's still there.

I've never owned a Winchester razor but I have had one of their vintage pocket knives in the past. The thing about Winchester is that you have the pocket knife collectors and the firearms collectors who may want a razor as a representative piece to compete with. I have no doubt they are a high quality blade but the collectible nature drives the price.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

3 books mention about Winchester razors. Two of them at least 30-40 years old. They are valued at least 10 times higher over other razors. I believe this is self explanatory

Thanked: 4942I have two of them and they are in great shape. The do fetch a ton of money though.......
$80 for one in really great condition is a pretty fair price these days.....I have seen them go for a lot more.

Thanked: 41I found one in decent shape at an antique shop. The name Winchester was not completely readable, I passed. Maybe wrong choice. Oh well I will keep looking.

I bought this razor few days ago. 5/8 with the case. This razor is much lighter than any average 5/8 razor I had before. No any restoration yet.
