Thanked: 3Kantor???
Hello everyone. Just joined SRP a couple weeks ago. I am a newbie here and to the world of straight razor shaving. I caught the bug a couple/few months ago and I have been collecting a few razors. I just won an old razor that was made in Sheffield but I am having problems finding any information on the manufacturer. The blade (tang) is stamped "Forged and Ground in Sheffield" on one side and on the other side it is stamped "Kantor". I can't find anything on this company. I have about 10 razors at this time and I do have to say that this blade has the thickest, heaviest blade of all the ones I have so far. It is a little over 5/8 and seems to be well made and in quite good shape. Anyone ever hear of this manufacturer? Any help is appreciated!
Thanks

Thanked: 3This kind of stuff interests me to no end. Were these trademarks all used on their straight razors or did they produce other items besides just straight razors?

Thanked: 3Very cool. Do you happen to know if their straight razors were of decent quality? Or just so-so? You can tell me the truth. I can take it lol. I wasn't really expecting much from this razor when I bought it but for $20 I thought it was a decent deal. It was made in Sheffield and it is still in very good condition for it's age. One side of the blade looks brand new still. The other side had a few light spots of stain that I have already lightened up with an initial polishing.

To see the razor photo will be more helpful.
But Sheffield razors tend to be good shavers.
You said it's in a good condition. If so, I think it's a good bargain.Alex Ts.
