    Default Straight Razor?????

If you just won the lottery and when whatever razor you order arrives {next day air of course} it would have the absolute best possible edge already honed and stropped in, what straight razor would you buy and why??? Here's the catch...this is the only razor you will have to shave with for the next year. You can have anything else you need just no other razors.

    LeGrelot 1/4 ground,
apparently this is one of the really good razors and many many ppl talk very highly about it.
You do not have to win the lottery to get one of those and that's what I am gonna do very soon.

    Still top of the list...

Livi / Takeda's Damascus AS on ironwood scales.

I dream of that frigging razor... I even have a regular AS razor blank made by Takeda, a rough blank.... block of steel? whatever haha

The main reason I love that series is that Takeda makes the kind of kitchen knives I really like, and I have become very familier with AS steel. 75% of my kitchen knives are made with AS to give you an idea

One day I hope to aquire one, but I'll have to be making some real change though... or get a bonus that is not sucked up by my student loans... /cry

I am not sure. Of course I would love to have an expensive razor, however the catch is that I have to shave with the thing for a year. Suppose I don't like it? Not all razors agree with my skin. E.g. Friodurs. I get them very sharp but they leave my skin itchy and irritated.

I know I like Fillies so I would probably have one custom rescaled with nice patterned mammoth ivory with a silver inlay with my name on it. That way I at least know for sure I will be shaving with a razor that agrees with my skin.

AFAIK Takada doesn't make razors. Mastro Livi has made razors using Takada steel. I don't know if any other custom makers have done the same.

    Default me personally

If I just won the lottery and I wanted something I did not have to wait for - it would be this:

8/8 Robert Williams Custom Carbon Steel Oblique Point, Quarter Hollow Ground, Mirror Polished - stylized pre-ban elephant ivory

8/8 Robert Williams Custom Carbon Steel Oblique Point, Quarter Hollow Ground, Mirror Polished - stylized pre-ban elephant ivory : Shaving Shop - luxury classic wet shaving products - straight razors

Pimp that out with a TM Latigo Strop w/linen and a felt strop from SRD and I think you could go the year minus the issue of RAD kicking in which of course with all the lottery money would only make it more advanced in a shorter time frame ...in which case this whole post would be pointless as your "only one razor for the year" would be buried under the other 50 or so odd razors, strops, honing stones, pastes, AS, Creams, soaps, balms...

Hmm, already have two and one is on the way! Dovo No. 55 7/8 NOS Spike Point and Dovo 95 Best Class 5/8's stainless steel. On order - Robert Williams 2" blade, 7/8, carbon steel.

The rest of my winnings would go to something else!
