Default New here, what a new hobby.

New here from NW Indiana. I have few razors, very nice but, my wife just bought me one, and I can't figure it out,and thought the expertise at this site might be able to help. It's an Uncle Sam, made by Roshy & Rahaim, Germany. On the side is an Eagle with the head at one end and then feathers and moving down the leg into a claw, clutching something. It looks like Ivory, but maybe celluloid. It has marked 114x. It does have on the blade an etching of Uncle Sam with the flags crossed over him. Has the original box. With Uncle Sam and the crossed flags, and the price of $4.50. It doesn't look like it has had much use. I found the name of Rahaim on the net but not Roshy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you could post some photos of it, in particular some close ups of the blade, that would be a big help.

Welcome to SRP. Some of the guys have the Goin's encyclopedia with the markings from various cutlery companies. If it is in there you may get something to go with. If you intend to shave with your razors you'll find alot of info here in the SRP Wiki.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Welcome. Is that anywhere near I believe it's Orange County, Indiana? If so, there is a native whetstone to that region that was mined and sold across the U.S. last century that was popular. It's known as the Hindostan whetstone.

Welcome. Based on your description, and my years of experience at this I suspect you have a straight razor!

    Have fun!!
