Crown and Sword Surprise
So I was lurking on ebay the other week (No I'm not wierd, no its not a problem!) And I saw a C&S go unsold. The next week rolled by so I snagged it. I got it a couple days ago and it had a wierd bend in the bevel- like a wave. It was only like half and inch, and only the very very edge, first bent outward, then inward then outward then inward etc. Like a crimping. Anyways. Today I honed it up and test shave with it.
Let me say first that I bought it thinking I could turn a nice profit on it. Now I can't justify selling it. It's NOS despite a little (<<<.5mm) hone wear, has a smile (from the factory, not because of me) from 4/8 to 9/16 back to 4/8, has a beautiful blade etching, scales are straight, pins are tight, and this is a minor thing but the tang is JUST RIGHT- the top jimps are a little larger with a slight hump- out of my current herd of maybe 15 razors (yeah I need to trim it soon) it rolls on the strop by itself, and it dances around your face... (just check my sig line)
And my god, what a shave. I must have spent only a few mins on it after I dealt with the wierd wave part and it could do with a little more on the J-nat, but it just wiped hair off. Just when I thought I had my RAD cured. Pics will be coming soon. (I am sick so I can't borrow my gf's camera yet) I'll try my webcam.
OH btw its a Crown and Sword ERN 1166

I love my C&S too - A 5/8 lightweight and maneuverable.

Like this one... Unfortunately not mine - it belongs to a customer who asked me to sharpen it up for him when he found out I use a straight. Said he bought it new and never used it.
Just given it a nice honing and a strop and will be trying it out later on - just to make sure it's shave ready of course..
