The razors good, the strop is fine the stone stinks, you can do as good for less money. Check the classifieds at SRP!

Thanked: 259i think if you look around you can get a much better equipment. i bought a new dovo perlex from vintagebladesllc for about 135 and a 3" red latigo strop for about 70. these are IMO lots better for the long run. check out the classifieds here for a shave ready straight. you can get nice ones for about 50-60. i might also add, i would buy a cheaper strop until you get your stropping down as you will nick and cut the strop to begin with and you would not want to spend alot on a strop only to ruin it

That was my first shave kit!
I used it for about a year before I upgraded and i learned a couple things:
The annoying things are the strop handle is uncomfortable to hold for long periods while slowly learning to strop. A padded handle is worth the investment. And, the plastic scales on the razor are prone to deformation and bending while traveling. I thought the arkanas stone was pretty good; in my estimation it seems really fine and takes a LOT of passes to cut; but it doesnt need to leveled like the synthetic ones do.
Hope that helps.
Cheers!
