Thanked: 953Anyone else experiment with the Harts?
Love to get multiple reactions on this.

I examined one this past weekend at the New England Bladesmithing Conference and I like the clean look and styling. I haven't shaved with it but it looks like we're seeing the comeback of the American razor. Knowing who made it, I think it would compare favorably with a Dovo or Thiers Izaard in performance.

I love that style of scales.
Anyone know where those fasteners came from?
I see people's point about it being a hefty price for a plain razor, but based on the minimalist design, I think that is what they were going for. All performance, no frills kind of thing.

Personally if the razor 'delivers the goods' I don' see the price as being out of line. It is built start to finish by one artisan and I would consider it a semi custom. Go to a web site that carries TI and check out the prices. The Hart is competitive IMO. BTW, in looking at Dovos I see that SRD has new 5/8 on sale for $72.99. That is a good deal.

Not being familiar with what is out there today I would say a Ford Falcon or a Chevy Nova will get me there just as a Cadillac will. Maybe that isn't a great analogy but that is the idea I'm trying to convey.
Or you can get a suit at JC Penney's and it will clothe your body just as one from Brooks Brothers will. Whether the Hart deserves the comparison I don't know first hand. More will be revealed I'm sure.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I had carefully read this thread prior to this one showing up and my experience differs a little from mparker's. I wonder if they are reading this thread??

IMO that's one sweet looking razor you have there, Rob. I'm glad to hear the shave was super.
If they ARE reading these posts at Hart Steel, I'd like to see them take some steel off the tang and shape it a bit more. Overall I like the look of the razor, I'm just partial to razors that have a bit more refined tang (I like your visual comparison to what I'm talking about when you put the Hart Steel razor next to your WE).
