I've never owned a caddy or a suit for that matter.... but I've owned a Ford Falcon with a 6 cylinder and a 3 speed on the column that was a great car. Also a Nova 6 cyl auto trans and another great one was a Dodge Dart with a slant six and a 3 speed on the column. Great cars. Wish I could have that falcon back again.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I'm not really into cars. In fact I try to avoid paying attention to new models. CAD would be too expensive of a hobby, but for some reason when I see a Ford Falcon, I always start thinking about a restore project...... Of all the cars, I have no idea why.

Thanked: 335Hart Steel Razor
Well here is my 2 cents worth of opinion on the new Hart Steel razor: I like it.
I have to admit that I don't know doodly whoop about steel so the alloy chosen for this razor is a "hmmm, OK, sounds good." But I have shaved with the razor 4 consecutive mornings and have had 4 consecutive very close shaves, with smoothness lasting well into the afternoon. It is a BG hallmarked razor and came shave ready. I've been stropping it ala mparker's recommendation of linen then leather (actually I've been doing that to all my razors since reading his observations on stropping 'cuz it works).
My razor has a slight sway back and a slight smile, making for a handsome razor, although I would have preferred a straight spine and straight edge as that fits my concept of what a razor should look like and also would make it easier to touch up when that was needed, but that's not a big deal, one just has to pay a bit more attention to what one is doing.
The black handle as I understand it is probably an injection molding and looks good. It has a very delicate grain figure which makes it appear to be the darkest of ebony. The blade closes perfectly centered and opens for me with just the perfect amount of tension. The blade does not sag, does not droop, and holds its position when I'm stropping - all important requirements for me.
The finish of the blade is satin; I would prefer a higher polish as that is easier to wipe dry, but I final rinse in extremely hot water before wiping, so that is a non-issue.
The cost has been commented on as being too high. I think it's about right as compares very favorably with razors such as the Le Grelot and Livi new grinds/regrinds (semantics, you know) and any business has to not only make money, but make a profit to stay in business. I have a Livi re-new which is also a nice razor and a Le Grelot 3/4-full hollow which came with a nagging chip which I massaged out of the edge - so that is finally a pretty good razor. In stacking up the Hart against the Livi and the Bell, I'll take the Hart. It fits my hand extremely well: I like the depth of the shank. The curve of the tang works just fine for my eye and my finger. Jimps might make it even easier to maneuver, but it works surprisingly well without. And it is sharp!
All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase and would encourage anyone sitting on the razor fence to fall off on the Hart side.
Good job Hart; best of luck in your new venture!

I will probably have one shortly and will add opinion. I just can't keep my eyes off it.

Thanked: 267I truly like the Hart that I have. It has taken some time and effort to dial it in. The toe had sharpness problems and it does have a smile. I have since re-honed it and have started getting it dialed in.
- Day one; Stropped it and the shave was only ok. I have a heavy beard and I have developed a very light touch so a sharp razor is a must.
- Day two; Using one layer of tape I re-honed it using 600, 1000 Shapton, Coticule with slurry till smooth, 8K, Coticule with just water, 16K Shapton, 0.5 and 0.25 diamond pastes on a paddle then 10 laps with 0.5 Chromium on a paddle and a 100 laps on a strop. The shave was a little harsh but a very good shave.
- Day three; shaved with my Le Grelot to give my face a rest.
- Day four; I gave the Hart 50 laps on the Chromium paddle and 200 laps on the strop. The shave was incredible! I have not had a better shave, ever! A ten is,well, a ten! It was smooth and the razor cut perfectly from heel to toe and my face showed it!
I personally like the feel of this blade in motion and the shape is to my liking. It has a confident feel without being to overpowering, probably because of the weight of the razor is a tad lighter than the Le Grelots that I am used to using. I will see in the coming weeks how the edge holds up, I am hopeful. If she holds up this razor will be at the very top of my rotation, and I have been blessed with some very nice shavers.
Take Care,

What would you describe the grind as? Looks a lot like a wedge to me....
