    That's what one would think. But that's not really correct. I'll illustrate. Not a good illustration, but an illustration. What actually happens is that you hone at twice the angle on one side instead of half the angle on both sides. The actual angle (degree) of the bevel is the same for single or double bevel razors if the razors have a spine or honing contact point of the same thickness and the same distance from the edge of the blade.

    In the Japanes style razor posted, it's an 8/8 with the hone contct at the halfway point on the one side of the razor. This means that at that point, it should have the spine thickness of a 4/8 razor, which would be somewhere around 1/8". If it does, it will have the same angle of bevel as a 4/8 standard hollow grind with a 1/8" thick spine.
