WAPIs in the bigtime
My WAPIs usually get passed over every morning as I reach for a TI, Le Grelot or DOVO. This morning I gave one that I rescaled in plastic a run. Wow, I really forgot how good this little wedge shaves. It's quiet, close and easy to handle as it's so small. Apparently, the market has caught as I checked on the current value of WAPI's. I found this on ebay:eBay and this from Canada: http://www.fendrihan.com/straight-ra...s-c-22_92.html
I am glad I bought a couple of them two years ago!Last edited by CloseShave; 09-15-2009 at 03:40 PM.

I really have been interested in getting one as I've heard they are great for beginners, and I love the look of the french-ish point. But I'm just not willing to shell out that kind of money when I'm not even sure how straight shaving will work out for me.
Oh well. At least I always have my DE to fall back on.

Yes, it is easy to forget how good they shave and to overlook them for something more "fancy" sometimes. And looking at those prices, I am glad I hold on to mine as well. I want to re-scale it but have not decided with what yet and by whom...
Also have one of the so-called "Plastic Wapi's" or "Wapi II" which I got from the Invisible Edge in the UK, but am considering of letting her go. Let's see...Last edited by Smoothy; 09-16-2009 at 04:08 AM.

Supply and demand boys.... the reason that all razors become overpriced. The reason that it's a good newbie shaver is not that it's a good newbie SHAVER, but rather a good shaver thats CHEAP. A DD would be a good newb shaver too lol.

You had to say that! My Wapi II hunt still goes on with hardly any luck, your the only one who has even turned up pics for me to prove you have one. Seems that a lot of guys don't even know that the II's are even out there. Love my Wapi but I'm really starting to lean toward my full hollow and if I remember right the Wapi II's are full hollow.

Thanked: 18I just had mine rescaled by max. He did an awesome job as always. Before i barely used it because i hated the heavy handle. I use it all the time since i got it back from him. The wapi is a great blade. I really love the way it shave and it is very easy to handle. Honing is also a breeze. All around a great razor. Two thumbs up. Also a few guys mentioned they wanted theres rescaled. I cant recomend maximillion enough. He has done three razors for me and one is more beutifull than the next. He does an outstanding job.

You have GOT to be kidding...
I too have a Wapi ... metal scales and all. Don't take what I am about to say the wrong way ... it is a good shaver. Good, not great. But, for $100.00 .... is this a late April fool's joke??? For that kind of money you can get a VERY GOOD Dovo. Sure, I've paid a TON of money for what some would call "cult" razors ... Filarmonica's, W and B's ... a few others. I would say DON"T EVER think of paying that kind of money for a Wapi! You would be sorry!

Well, my Wapi II in American Redwood scales should be posted in the Classifieds here on SRP by the end of the week.. And I am not sure if I should also sell of my Wapi or hold on to it.. I want to reduce my rotation a bit and am not sure if I should let go the Wapi or another near-wedge of a certain nostalgic and sought-after French making.. If it is the Wapi, I will let you know.
