    Default Korn Non-Folding Straight Razor

We have been talking about the Japanese Non-Folding razors and I thought it would be cool to show you this Korn Non-Folding Straight Razor made in the US. It is called "The Real" and was sold as a Safety Razor because of the little screen that comes with it.

On one side of the blade is etched " The Real" patented in 1908 and the other side has the Korn company etching from Little Valley, NY.

Sorry the pics didn't turn out too good. It is actually in near mint condition.

    Enjoy,

    Lynn

According "The Razor Anthology" in 1903 these razors were in sale already, for $2.

Thank you Manah! I just looked under a magnifying glass and the patent date was in February 1903.

Very nice razor Lynn! How is it to shave with?

It is not uncommon for items to be sold prior to the patent date as you may recall items marked Patent Pending. Obviously, if your razor is stamped with the 1903 Patent date it was manufactured in 1903 or later.

Thanks for sharing this unique razor. Now I will need to keep my eyes open for one during my local hunts.

I'll double that and give you $4 for it!

What a cool razor, Lynn. How's it shave? Try it in "safe" mode?

It is a cool little shaver. Like a japanese razor that you can switch hands will. Full hollow ground so both sides are shavable. Being a Korn, it takes a great edge. No safe mode for me......

    Fun little razor.

Thanks for posting that, Lynn. I love the look of that one. A shaving knife to be sure.
