No Sharpen Straight Razors?
Ok so I do alot of traveling on the weekends skiing, camping, hunting and random trips. I was wondering if any one had any experiance with the no sharpen razors. How do they save are they worth getting for traveling?

Thanked: 4942This is one of those personal preference areas. I have a Feather Straight and have travelled with it. Great shaver other than the nick I get every time on the scar under my chin and you can always bring extra blades.
I pretty much travel with my straights now and a small TI paddle. I just make sure it is touched up before I leave and no problem.

Thanked: 22I don't use my shavettes much any more - I use a straight at home and a DE when I travel. Of the ones I've used the one I like best was the Sanguine X D20. It costs less than $20 and has much the same weight and balance as a 5/8ths straight. The 1/2 DE blade is a bit of a challenge to load at first, and never gives quite as smooth a shave as a real razor, but it's cheap to buy, cheap to run and with some practice will give good results.

Thanked: 735I bring two inexpensive straights with me on all trips, and a inexpensive strop.
Why punish yourself, just because you're travelling?

No Sharpen Straight Razors?
Gentlemen,
The Feather AC has been my travel companion for quite sometime, with a double edge backup in case I am strapped for time. Lately, though, I have added my Dovo "Perlex" along with a small Tony Miller strop. Once I get used to taking the Dovo along, I'll probably leave the Feather at home, but retain the double edge only because of possible time problems.
I think the Feather is a good choice if you prefer a razor with replaceable blades. The razor, however, as you know, has Tiger's teeth and is unforgiving, although a good shave.
Regards,
Obie
