    Default Gold Dollar Razor

Does anyone know anything about the Gold Dollar razor at ruprazor.com? I know Ken is reputable, and I am considering investing in the starter kit, but I haven't heard anything about the razor yet and I am interesting in knowing how it shaves before paying for it.

    Thanks for any info

If Ken is selling it, it will shave just fine. They are cheap razors, but Ken doesn't sell junk. It would probably be a good start for a new guy.

There's quite a bit of information on them in the archives.

    There's one review here:

In general I've read the scales are cheap but the blade takes a nice edge and is easy to hone. I actually just got one in the mail today, I can a least vouch for the poor quality scales. They're what Seraphim uses to make his creations.

yeah, sorry... I forgot to tell you anything specific about them. In my experience, there are often flaws with the tangs not being perfect, the grinds are a bit rough and the scales suck pretty bad. All that aside, The ones I have tried took a really good edge and gave a great shave. I mean I got a really good shave.

Others have had lesser results, but they were not buying from Ken or Seraphim. The gold dollars Ken sells are not going to be duds.

ken does alot of work to these i know., alot of times the scales are crap. if they are to bad he will repin them to help them out as much as he can. they are a heavy mass produced razor with its flaws. but all in all they maybe ugly but they work. as with any good tool, it may not always be the prettiest but it will do the job. and from what others say about ken, you will not got a bad razor. he has pretty good eye for good and bad. im pretty sure that he will take good care of you. as for the razor i have 2 and the one i cleaned up and had honed turned out to be a great shaver. just my 2 cents worth
