I did not smell anything. I think my best bet is to have the ivory guy look at it.

There are two Joseph Rogers in this lot with broken scales that are older and show more U shaped and grain lines I ran one through the flame on the stove and did get the smell you spoke of. The one I ran through the flame had grain pattern like a Wester Brothers in the lot that I also think has ivory scales.
