Thread: Boker's "Edelweise" Revisted

Gentlemen,

I can't get over what a great shaver my Boker "Edelweise" 5/8 " razor is turning out to be.

I love the weight, the balance and the looks. It's crisp scraping sound across my Hollywood face always reminds me of a champion skater soaring across the ice.

Of course, it's the shave that pleases me most of all. My small razor collection has no antiques, or refurbished great names. For a straight razor pilgrim, however, it is lovely and functional. My "Edelweise" very much fits in the rotation by just being a great shaver.

I've been on the fence about trying one of the new Bokers. I may just have to pull the trigger and let the whiskers fall where they may.

In my opinion, the Edelweiss is the most beautiful razor being mass produced today. Something about its pure while and silver looks just appeal to me. Glad to hear its a great shaver too. Eventually I will have to get one.

If you wanted to make me envy you did it.

All vintage Bokers are superior shavers. I have a Bokers Special and a King Cutter and both shave right up there with the best of them.

The feeling is mutual. I have been shaving with a Boker Edelweise for the entire month of September and it is a delight. Matter of fact after I am finished with this post, I will be heading to the shower and a shave with the Boker.

You're really not helping my RAD here y'know..! I've just ordered a Boker Edelweisse from SRD... And I promised myself I wouldnt order any more razors after the Bismarck I got last month... Oops!

However, after your glowing review I could hardly let you be the only one having all the fun now could I..?!? You just encouraged me far too much..!

Thats the reason I stay out of the Livi threads, that could end up being horribly expensive!

Ah well, on the upside, thats another beauty to add to my rotation and its one ticked off my list! Now I've got my eye on something from Thiers Issard or Wacker..! That will DEFINATELY have to wait until next month, lest my loving girlfriend kill me!

My dear Stuart,

I believe you will be pleased with the "Edelweise" razor. As you well know, I am delighted with mine.

Thus far I am growing closest to two of of the razors in my modest razor collection. One is the "Edelweise" and the other my Thiers-Issard 5/8" with Kingwood scales. Both are sharp, but there is also something silky smooth about the way they shave. Perhaps it is only my perception.

The Dovo Renaissance 6/8" stainless is coming along, too. The 5/8" Thiers-Issard with Snakewood scales and the Thiers-Issard with black bone scales, although gorgeous razors, I think have a little way to go yet to come alive.

The one razor that has been a disappointment so far is my Dovo 5/8" carbon steel with "Perlex" scales. This razor, although lovely to look at, clunks along like a pirate with a wooden leg. The other day I sent it to Lynn to hone, and I'm sure he will use his magic hone to put a little life into this thing.

The Story of Lynn and His Magic Hone!

Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away, there lived a proud but humble honemeister named Lynn. He worked tirelessly day in and day out honing razors so that his 12 daughters (apparently he did more than just hone razors) could go to school to learn the ways of the Force and rebel against the Empire.

One day on his way to pick up his daughters from school in his minivan with a Soccer Mom sticker on the back, he accidentally ran over a strange woodland creature known to the locals as Slurry the Wookie. As Lynn cradled Slurry in his arms as he lay dying, Slurry took a strange object from his purse (well, he was a strange Wookie and it did match his shoes) and gave it to Lynn saying AAAGHHHAAHHA!! Lynn didn't know what that meant, but he put the object in his pocket anyway.

Later that night, Lynn finally had some time to look at the strange object that Slurry had given him. As he set it on the table, the small image of a rather attractive but annoying woman came to life saying "Help me Obie Hone Whatupi! You're our only hope!!" Then, with a flip of the bird, she was gone, leaving Lynn to ponder what it all meant and vowing never to touch whiskey again....... to be continued.... perhaps.
