    Default Thiers-Issard "Dos Festonne"

    Gentlemen,

What are your thoughts on the Thiers-Issard 6/8" razor with a barber's notch and snakewood scales "Dos Festonne"? As I understand it , this is remake of the original.

Being partial to Spanish and barbers notch points, as well as Thiers-Issards in general, I am curious about this particular razor. It carries a hefty price, but one can dream, what?

As always, I value your expertise. Thank you, gentlemen.

    Regards,

    Obie

I too have toyed with the idea of that one. It's the only current production TI that really does things for me...but it is not cheap, not at all...

If you can't hold out, be sure to post a nice, detailed review so I can live vicariously through you!

    Best,
    Jim

    My dear Jim,

Yes, I look at pictures of the razor several times a day with a little tickle in the back of my neck. That is a lovely razor.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

    Regards,

    Obie

    My dear Oglethorpe,

You can see the razor at Rasurpur. I believe Thiers-Issard UK has a version with bone scales — I think it's the same model.

That sure is pretty. Love the sound of a half hollow, too. I love half hollows. I even like the sound and resonance of the two words.

It almost looks like the TI Frameback with a worked spine and the barber notch. Pretty cool.

    My dear Lynn,

Thanks for your comments. Do you know of this razor's shaving capabilities?

    Regards,

    Obie
