I saw a pic of that razor IIRC that RW posted a few weeks back along with some others that he had finished. To me it was the standout of the bunch and I think it is extraordinarily beautiful. I love the point and the blade profile and the scales are lovely. I have some of Robert's razors and they are great shavers IME. Thanks for the great review.

Giraffe bone! How exotic—and very lovely!

Your comments about the balance of the razor are in complete accord with my experience with my (more modest) Williams razor. It's the largest and heaviest of the razors I have, and yet it is more agile and comfortable than any of them. And like you, it can get places none of my other razors can.

My Williams was not a custom, but one of a series he makes for shavingshop.com. The scales are nothing exotic: plastic with an imitation black marble finish. But none of that detracts from the extraordinary quality of the blade, and it's laudable that in addition to his commissioned razors, he makes more affordable (affordable being a relative term here; I paid a bit more than $300 for mine) razors that straight shavers can purchase without a "off the shelf" (of only one online retailer, true, but that's one more one more online retailer than many other customer razor craftsmen).

I hope one day I'm in a position to commission a custom Williams myself. An 8/8 blade, half-hollow, with a barber's point, and Padauk scales.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of craftsmanship.

Hm, this style of post looks very familiar for some reason....

A nice blade, RW is a master of his craft for sure.
