    Default Flea Market Swag

Ok so I passed a flea market today and decided to stop in. This is my first time to look for vintage razors so really it was a shot in the dark. I picked the best three out of six or so, but none of them were on either the "good" or "bad" razor list. (i have it in my phone just in case). So i was wondering if you all could tell me whether they are worth restoring or if they should just be used to practice my honing.

Razor #1 - Brummel - Werk New York. The other side says "Beau Brummel Wedge" It has really cool black and white scales. Though I have no idea what they are. Black and white ebony maybe?? Oh and it's 4/8

Razor #2 - Says "Henry Martin Hamburg" and "Made in England" its 5/8

Razor #3 - Says "Union Razor Cutlery Co." and "Union City, GA" its 5/8 as well

If you guys could give me a little guidance it would be much appreciated. I'll try to post pics later tonight. My girlfriend is already getting irritated that I'm taking this long.

I have only heard of the Union, but pretty much any vintage razor is quality. Only new ones are on the "bad" list, so as long as you are buying vintage, you are buying something decent.

+1 on the Beau Brummel. I have one that is marked Wedge with what sounds like the same scales. Celluloid BTW. Union Cut Co was the same outfit to gain fame as Ka Bar and they made a good razor too.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Wow, sounds like I did well. Isn't there some saying about a blind squirrel? Anywho, I think I'm gonna have the brummel restored by someone who knows what they are doing. I'll play with the other two. Any suggestions on whom I should go with?

I've been told Union Cutlery blades are quality items. And, in fact, it's my first straight razor, purchased from my brother-in-law. A little on the smaller side, but easy to use. Takes a good edge and seems to keep it.

(Sorry, should have buffed the sides cleaner long ago.)

How about some pictures, by the way?

    Hmmm... just noticed...

Razor #3 - Says "Union Razor Cutlery Co." and "Union City, GA"...

My razor is marked Olean, NY. Is Union Cutlery different than Union Razor Cutlery?

I have a Union razor that I honed myself. Great shaver. Though the opposite side says "B.B. supply co. Ohio"

Here are some pics. Yeah they are pretty rusty, but I really just want something to learn to hone on. I'll be pickier next time. The first pick is the brummel. The next two are of the union. And the last two are the Henry Martin Hamburg. Sorry my camera sucks and I couldn't get any closer without it going all blurry.

I love the scales on the first one!
