I thought everyone here was all about supporting each other and to renew interest in this hobby.
No disrespect intended, but is that really difficult to understand? You've got a grand total of 17 posts to this point and a pretty serious chunk of them are in this thread discussing heading up a group buy (which I will participate in). Some guys are really watchful of newbs to begin with, and they certainly aren't on the short list of people to send money to. It's not personal towards you, but I think it would be true of anyone who tried something like this without becoming really well established as a general member that contributes in a meaningful way.

I never asked for money? And you've been here since Jan 09 and I don't see a contributor tag on your profile? Are you not as trustworthy now as you were then? My original plan was to purchase them with my own money and the only risk would have been no more than $10-12 a razor. I truthfully think money has nothing to do with it because I not once asked for any. I didn't hold anyone at gunpoint demanding money, in fact most PMs were very cordial and some of the most supportive from the newer guys.

This past weekend I met up with Larry from Arlington Texas and he taught me more over breakfast about honing and pastes than I have learned watching videos etc. He made an effort to reach out and make a connection with anther human being to further this hobby. I met him on this forum and am grateful, very grateful.

Its Larry's spirit we should embody, not quoting fees higher than they are to make it appear less appealing to all those members with hopes of getting a few for themselves to learn on. Everyone has to start somewhere right? It seems more like high school mentality with picking on the new kid. Have we not grown into MEN and moved past this?

Look man, no one's been picking on you. That's all in your head. There's some guys on here who have done what you're talking about before and are trying to caution you about the difficulties you'll run into.

Also, while you haven't actually asked for money, you're presumably not going to just give away the razors, so at some point we who would buy them from you are going to have to send you money. If you're new to forum protocol I understand your frustration, but mistrust of newbies who want to sell something is completely normal. Most of the time that happens the guy's a scammer. Not saying you are.

Thanks, sometimes it takes getting hit over the head with it to see it more clearly. Yes, perhaps it is the protocol I'm having trouble with. I appreciate you being clear and to the point. Maybe it's me? I just realize that on a site like this every purchase is a risk and I own that risk if I participate, I don't need "more experienced" folks to police it for me. I believe most feel this way but I could be wrong, it sure wouldn't be the first time.

If your goal is truly just to get a bunch of these things for a group buy, I recommend maybe you ask Kenrup if he'd be willing to tack an extra hundred onto his next order for you. After all, he does it all the time and already knows what he's doing. Maybe he'd be interested.

Also, if I come into a new forum and want to organize something where people have money or goods at risk (a pass, group buy, etc.), I always do what I can to take all the risk (ship before recieving payment, etc.). Just a thought. Not necessary, just something I do to help allieve the general newbie mistrust.

Yes, I would be willing to add in a group buy in my next order. My last shipping bill was $145.00. I'd love to have paid only $95.00.

I suggest you look into what it you would have to do to do an International Money Transfer. A lot of banks don't do them and so that do charge and nice chunk of change to do them.

I anticipate ordering in December or January.
If there are enough guys that do commit to this group buy. I can determine what fees and all are involved I can give an idea what the cost per razor will be to get it to you. As you can see that this isn't like going to Wally-World and buying one. I would like 25% to cover my efforts.
I try to keep my orders under $2000.00. If I go over $2G, there are import brokers fees that are also added on. I hope you're getting an idea if the wholesale price on a razor is list at $1.85, it's just like the tip of an iceberg. There is a WHOLE LOT more underneath then what is showing above.

That's right. I had had forgotten that my bank also charged me $35 for that.

Makes Paypal fees seem not so bad after all!

Is that a shot at me?

I paid $95 for shipping, that's no lie, that is what I paid. Take it or leave it.

I also posted what I recall were the prices for the other razor models' wholesale costs.

Listen, if you look back at the OP, it was I who started this thread to begin with to share a bit more information about these razors that I am a fan of. They are so ridiculously inexpensive (even at $10 each) most newbies (and razor snobs too!) don't know quite what to make of them. So I thought I'd share what I know, and a bit about my experience with them (i.e.-they do come with issues, loose pins, lousey scales, uneven edges, etc, etc..). Do a search for "Double Arrow", and you will see that I have shared alot of what I know about these razors with the forum at large.

Is that what you are refering to as far as "resistance" goes?

It is a forum, where discussion takes place.

Should the more experience members also not offer up advice to the forums as to how to get a better edge on a razor, better beard prep, etc, etc... or other such policing manuevers? Just let folks find out for themselves?

You've shared a wealth of information regarding the Gold Dollar razors for a very long time. Thank you for that.
