Default One outa two aint bad

I went to an antique fair today and picked a George Wostenholm & Sons Celebrated IXL. Washington Works, Sheffield. On the blade it says "Wostenholm's Holow Ground. The blade is in pretty good shape, as are the scales. Some cleaning and honin', it'll be ready to go. The guy sold it for $8.00! Woo-Hoo!!

I hate my computer. I had been watching a Clauss USMC for over a week.
The bid had held at $26.50 for at least a few hours. So, I'm sitting here....waiting...watching. Took my watch off to get the end time dialed in. 30 seconds to go and I start putting a bid in. I may get outbid but what the heck, I've watched what these go for. I'd figured I would see some kink of bid war start in the last 30 min, but nothing.

So I push Enter for the bid with about 20 sec. to go, I'm gonna hold the confirm page until the last moment. Oh S^&*!! Safari can't open the page!! Back up, rebid with about 10 sec. to go. Safari can't open the page Again!!

Lost the bid. *sigh* I may have been outbid with what I wanted to bid, but at least I would have known.

    Someday I'll have a USMC.

Congrats to whoever won it. I hope it was someone here. A little cleaning and I'm sure that one will be a sweet shaver also.

    Grumble,grumble, grumble,

    Kev

Use a sniping service. I use e-snipe (there are others). I tell it what to bid and it places my bid for me with 6 seconds to go in the auction. You don't have the excitement of placing a bid in the final seconds yourself, but at least you don't have to worry about computer glitches.

Nice score on the Wosty BTW!

Good job on the Wosty though. I have my first one (a frameback) coming sometime this week.

I can't wait, I have heard good things.

Congrats on the Wostenholm. Gots any pics of it you can post of it?

As for EBay, looks like there will always be more, hang in there.
