Finally ordered a DOVO
I've had my eye on the DOVO 5/8 tortoise for years and watched the price slowly climb. I've always thought that one day I'd get around to adding it to my meager (3) collection. Well, I just turned 5 yrs with my current company, and at 5 yrs they let you order something online as a gift for $100. I'll have to make up the difference, but I thought this is the perfect time to finally get that DOVO. So I went to classicshaving and wouldn't you know...they are out of stock and not accepting backorders. So I found it somewhere else. It won't come pre-honed, but it's on its way.

Congratulations on five years with your company, a new razor and being able to keep RAD down for so long.

Ahh the RAD... Yes, I've held out long. But now I fear I've got one foot on that slippery slope. I've got my eye on a Boker King Cutter now or maybe a TI.
By the way, I liked your idea of the seven day razor rack on your website. Funny, I've got one of those Illinois strops I've used for 25 yrs. I just might do the same thing -- Thanks for the inspiration.

Just FYI and the fact that you may be headed down the slippery slope of RAD, there are 2 sites (other than Classic Shaving that I know of) that sell shave ready Dovos: Straight Razor Designs and Vintage Blades.
The usual disclaimer: I am not associated with either of those fine establishments. Just passing on potentially useful info.

Thanked: 190$100 after 5 years. Sounds like you make the most of it. I have that same razor and although it competes in my rotation for my attention against the higher end straights, it still gives a good shave and is still part of my rotation.
The swedish steel is a little soft and needs to be sharpened up after two shaves with my pasted paddle strop. But it always sharpens up easily and gives me a nice BBS shave. It sells at a nice price point and I can understand why Dovo sells a bunch of these.
If you ever see the youtube video of how Dovo makes their razors, you may appreciate their price point for this razor.
Enjoy!
