My Dovo Special, despite advertized as "pre-sharpened", was nowhere near shave ready when I get it. I tried stroping it first with no success then had it professional honed and it now shaves great.

If I am reading this correctly I am not seeing that this Dovo has anything but a factory edge on it either...Which we all know is not really shave ready unless you are the luckiest person around and should go buy a lottery ticket too...

If this reading is correct, and it sounds like it is, send your blade to Steve at the Invisible Edge. He'll sort it out.

    I'm assuming you're in Europe/UK.

Sounds like a stropping issue to me. I had the same issues with my Torreys

I agree with gssixgun. I am by no means an expert but two highly reputable honemeisters have told me that despite claims to the contrary, no razor is ever honed to shave quality from the factory and a professional honing needs to be done in order to make it so. Even if your stropping was incorrect, I would guess that it was unlikely the blade was shave ready to begin with.
