My Dovo Special, despite advertized as "pre-sharpened", was nowhere near shave ready when I get it. I tried stroping it first with no success then had it professional honed and it now shaves great.

Thanked: 13245If I am reading this correctly I am not seeing that this Dovo has anything but a factory edge on it either...Which we all know is not really shave ready unless you are the luckiest person around and should go buy a lottery ticket too...

Sounds like a stropping issue to me. I had the same issues with my Torreys

Thanked: 5I agree with gssixgun. I am by no means an expert but two highly reputable honemeisters have told me that despite claims to the contrary, no razor is ever honed to shave quality from the factory and a professional honing needs to be done in order to make it so. Even if your stropping was incorrect, I would guess that it was unlikely the blade was shave ready to begin with.
