Can anyone help identify this straight
I came across my hubby's grandfathers straight razor that he inherited when his father passed away some time ago. He doesn't remember his father using it (but that doesn't mean he didn't when he was younger) and thought it belonged to his grandfather. I'm super excited about this find!!!!
I do have larger pictures if it would help.
Here are three pictures that I took of it.
does it look like it could be made shave ready?
Does anyone know a possible date of this straight or anything about the company that made it? Any information would be a big help. Not that it would be sold, but how does one know a value for it. It will be given to my son when he's old enough to appreciate it.Last edited by krissy; 10-17-2009 at 09:24 PM.

That is a Henckles (the twins) and it is a well regarded brand. Your hubby's grandfather got his monies worth out of that one. It has some uneven hone wear but yes it could be made shave ready and would be good to shave with for someone who liked a razor of that size.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

So, until your son is old enough to use the razor, are you going to use it, or your husband?

I'll be using it once it returns from being made shave ready by someone who knows what they are doing.
My hubby isn't to hyped up about using a straight himself so he is content with his DE. But I hope he at least gives it a try someday.

I was very nervous about making the switch myself. Being a pro at making lather helps for sure.
It is definitely worth the effort it takes to learn though.

+1 on Jimmy! I have several of the Henckels and love them all. You can find pictures of it's brothers and sisters here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ing-twins.html
Get it honed up and put it back to work. That's where Henckels are happiest!“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)
