Mystery Razor
Gentlemen,
Today I picked up a razor, in a fairly good shape, from a local flea market. I think the razor comes in the original box, a typical Dovo-type box, though I cannot be sure the box is original. On the other hand, since this person had the one razor, I don't suspect he used a different box. My reasoning might be off a little, I admit.
The writing on the box is:
The Dewey Razor (or The Dewen Razor). The other name is: L. Lowe Co., Milwaukee Wisconsin. Lowe Company, I believe, is a manufacturing establishment in Milwaukee.
The razor is a 5/8" spike and in a fairly good shape. The scales are the typical black plastic. Spacer looks good. No etching on the blade. The usual honing marks are visible. The only words and letters I can identify on the shank are:
. . . BY
. . . CHER
. . . D
I think the razor will clean up nicely. A good honing might turn it into a good shaver, although as a straight razor pilgrim, I cannot offer a solid evidence of this. No pictures, gentlemen. Many thanks for your expertise.
Regards,
Obie

I would guess Wade&Butcher and Sheffield for the last 2 lines. Just my thoughts, I'm not an expert.

Mystery Razor
My dear Drew,
Good thinking. Yes, I, too, took a wild guess on Wade & Bucher, at the same time dismissing it as wishful thinking. Yet, one never knows. The razor could have been by Wade & Bucher as a promotional item for the L. Lowe Co.
Regards,
Obie
