    You could try something like Meguires Fine Cut Cleaner. It's used to polish auto paint and is a super fine cut. Use the lightest grit you can find. About the only thing lighter than that is baking soda or talcum powder.

    The vibrating tumbler is the only way I know of to clean and preserve the etching at the same time. If you use polish and a dremel the etching is history. Check out gssixgun's post on tumbler cleaning a blade in the workshop.http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...mentation.html
