Thanked: 0Newbie Question about selling my razors
Hi,I have a quite a few antique straight razors...
7- Pearl Duck Dubl Duck Goldedge Razors.
6 are in great shape with very little rust. 1 has a small crack in handle.
1- Dubl Duck Special #1.
In very good condition.
Also have 2 sharpening/honing stones.
I am a cosmetologist who does some barbering. I went to work at a shop about 8 years ago and they had a large storage room in the back that was full of stuff. I was asked to clean it out. I found these razors in a box and showed them to the owner ( a very young guy) he told me they probably belonged to the older barbers who used to work there years ago. He told me to throw them away! So I asked if I could have them instead, he said sure. I really do not know much about straight razors, as I do not use them. But I could tell that they were old and beautiful, espeically the Goldedge razors with the pearl handles. So Im wondering what they are worth? I am going to sell them and I do not want to rip anyone off but nor do I want to look stupid by giving them away.

Welcome to SRP. The forum doesn't give values to razors that folks might want to sell. What you can do is go to ebay and type dubl duck in the search engine. If you are registered with ebay and signed in you can go to the menu on the left. Scroll down to 'completed items' and click on that and you will have an idea. Ebay is probably your best bet to sell them as you have to have a minimum of posts to sell on the shaving forums and you are far from it. Or better yet keep them and learn the joys of shaving with a straight razor.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Newbie Question . . .
My dear Newbie,
I must agree with Jimmy: this is a great opportunity to start shaving with a straight razor. You already have the razors.
There are enough straight razor scholars on this forum to give you every measure of advice and direction you need. Jimmy is one of them. All you need is to pose a question and you will have the answer within moments. As a straight razor pilgrim, I speak from experience. These gentlemen know their stuff.
Good luck.
Regards,
Obie
