Thanked: 45Rubber Grip on Filly 14s
Is that just a water / rust trap, or is it fairly easy to keep dry?
How many Filly 14 owners out there have just opted to snip it off? Wonder if that really affects resale value much . . .

I go back and forth on this a lot. I don't like the look of the rubber grip, but then I use the razor and love how it gives you such great control. I've having mine rescaled and for now am keeping on. I also like to preserve the original look of razors as much as possible, which makes me loathe to snip the thing off -- especially knowing there's no tang stamp underneath...
If the tang was marked I'd probably rip it off.

I coat the rubber on my BD (top and beneath) with camilla oil. Seems to work so far at preventing any rust under it and keeping the rubber flexible in this very dry climate.

You could seal the rubber with CA or something, and then you would only have to worry about it drying out and cracking. I don't know what the Filly's are like, but some razors actually have a smaller tang (in the vertical and horizontal directions) where the rubber is. On those, if you take the rubber off, it looks quite odd and I would imagine it becomes more difficult to handle. I'm not sure if my description makes sense, but I don't know where to find a pic off the top of my head. I would also assume there is no stamping under the rubber - why would they put on there if it's not going to be seen?

I've seen pictures of a Filly without the rubber, and it was as holli4pirating describes.

Or you could sell the Filly 14 EPBD on "the bay" and buy a Filly 14 Doble Temple and make about 100 ~ 150 USD in profit.

I think it looks cool and helps maneuvering the razor when shaving.

I know its original, adds grip etc similarly to the dovo that has it (you know the one) but if it were my razor I would definately remove it and have deep jimps made onto both sides of the tang, possibly by myself or I would sub contract Max/Glen for the job
