Default Another vintage razor (Zwei Uhu)

Hi. This is the last one of my great grandfather's razors (the other two, at least one strop and a hone were stolen a few years ago). What does the number mean? The size of the blade or something else? Is it a good one? The hone is a Belgium coticule (he used it to hone his razors). It's in very bad condition, but a barber said it still can be used and honed the razor as a proof. I used the belt as a strop and now the razor cuts almost every hair. Does it have to be as sharp as a safety razor's blade?

Very nice razor! (and coticule). I could not find any mention of Zwei Uhu in Goins' Encyclopedia of Cutlery markings or any other source. It looks to be a WW1 vintage Solingen in great condition, with even honewear, and should be a great shaver. The "Two Owls" marking has me stumped. Maybe one of our German members can shed light on who made this razor. Sharpness? If it gives you a close and comfortable shave it is sharp enough, IMHO.

Is there a producer who used to put two storks on the scales? One of the stollen razors had two storks printed on the scales. The third one had Henckels' logo.

the 48 0n the tang looks like it would indicate the blades size which looks like 4/8s to me.

2 Storks is Robert Klaas. I had one that I sold and I have another one coming back from honing sometime soon. So I can't comment much on the shave...

I'm from Belgium and last year I went to Solingen (Germany) to find out, who's the maker of the Zwei Uhu razors.I asked there in five different factories and I got five different answers going from Arthur Müller (Bismarck) over Lauterjung (Puma). So, what's it? One fact is for sure my razor, also a Zwei Uhu is dated early 20th century.Probably it's the same producer as the maker of the Adam & Eve razors.But...who is it????
Greetings from Antwerp - Belgium. You can see the pictures of some of my razors in my album.
