Thanked: 0age of a wade&butcher
I just picked up a wade and butcher barber's notch, has "The Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor for Barber's use" engraved on the blade and "manufactured by wade and butcher sheffield" on the tang. Anyone have any idea on the age of this blade?
Where does one find this sort of information out?
thanks,
robert

It is probably between 1860 and 1890, most likely somewhere in the middle. Pictures would help -- and as for where to find out, just, read a lot on the forum

Welcome to SRP. Pictures are always appreicated but if it says Sheffield and not Sheffield England it should be pre 1891. I can't remember exactly where the info is located here in the WIKI hopefully someone else has the link. If I find it I'll post it.

Thanked: 0Thanks for the info. I will definitely be taking care of it. Looks like I got really lucky on my first trip looking for razors I got this w and b and a dubl duck golden edge for less than 20 bucks. I'm planning on sending the wb off for a refurb job as the its got some scaling and rust and the scales are crappy. The goldenedge is in good enough shape to hone and shave with...I hope to have it shaving in a few weeks.
again, thanks for the info, Im enjoying reading the site.
