Henrik Ibsen's Shaving Gear
I had visitors from South Korea and Taiwan this summer and showed them around Oslo, and flipping through the pictures the other day I found a couple of pictures I took in the Henrik Ibsen (Major 19th-century Norwegian playwright, theatre director, and poet) museum here in Oslo. At the time I didn't think of taking more detailed pictures of the razors to try to make out what kind of razors they are, but I thought I'd post them anyway. Seems there's a couple missing in his 7 day set, but still.. It's a nice looking group of razors.

Henrik Ibsen's Shaving Gear
My dear Mister A,
Thanks for sharing that delightful photo. It gives me another glimpse into the life of one of my favorite playwrights.
Regards,
Obie

What use could possibly Ibsen have of straigts? Have you seen a picture of the man?

There is that little spot on his jaw there.. He,he.. But I guess he didn't spend too much time shaving. Too much writing to do. He was a really interesting man. If my memory doesn't fail me, he always wrote in the morning. Then he walked down to Grand Hotel, and always at 12.00 sharp he walked in to the bar for a schnaps and a large glass of beer (or I suspect.. several big glasses ) before he walked back again to his apartment for some more writing.

Not sure about the big blade on the left, but the scissors on the right might have been a nosehair scissor? Who knows. Maybe just a fancy little accessory someone gave him as a gift. I assume the scissors in the top right corner are for trimming his rather large sideburns.
