    Default Blade width

    Hi you all,
I am a newbie on the way to his first shave. I own a caouple of 6/8 Filarmónicas.
I have a really hard beard on a sensitive skin. Moreover, I love the 8/8 blades. I am to sell my two Fillis and get a 8/8 Filarmóica Barbas Duras razor.
I read that this blade width is not for beginners.
    Concerns, please.

    Hello mate,
You may find that such a large blade is awkward to manouevre till you have developed the skills with a smaller size. You might also find that you're obscuring what you're trying to shave.

I think most guys like the idea of an 8/8 when they begin. Some continue to do so, & others lose the love & stick with what suits them best.

Personally, I do like them, but i like them all!

I think the biggest problem with 7/8 and 8/8 width blades is that most people have a natural tendency to open up the shaving angle when using them. You really have to concentrate to maintain the 30 degree or less and particularly in the chin area.

I like the big Fil's too along with a bunch of other big blades and they are fun to shave with.

If I were you I would hold on to at least one of your 6/8 blades. You may find that you like them after you've been at it awhile and those Fillys are much easier to get rid of than they are to get hold of. I am a lover of large and small blades. They all shave well if the feel is a bit different. Keeps it interesting. Have fun as I once heard someone say.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Dear Lynn,
It is an honour for me to receive your answer. As we say in Spain, "Man not only feeds with bread". Sometimes you decide under the influence of your reason and desire. Maybe a narrower blade should be more appropriate for a beginner, as Ben said wisely, but I also like the 8/8. Definitely my 6/8 Fillys are on sale and I will get a 8/8 Filly or similar. I will be a bit more careful, I guess.
    Thanks to you both.

Out of curiosity... Where are they on sale?

Alternately, consider just sending them to me anyway

If it's any help,my first razor was a 7/8ths. and it presented no problems. As Lynn said, watch that 30 deg. angle and you'll be fine.

    Dear Charlie,
I hope so. Just took the final decision. Going for a 8/8 or similar.
    Regards.
