Rescaling a Wapi
I have a nice quarter grind Wapi but really dislike the scales. It shaves great, but it just doesn't balance at all and the pin isnt very tight so it's really floppy. Can anyone here help me rescale? I'm looking for simple black or white plastic scales, nothing fancy for this razor. Thanks.

Give rayman a shout, he did one for me that turned out awesome. Even if you don't have him do it, he'll be able to answer your questions and provide some insight.

classic shaving sells basic black and white plastic scales for around $12 a set I think. They come with the pins and everything, you just have to drill the pivot hole, slide the blade in, and pin.

Thanks for the tip. I ordered some scales from Classic Shaving. We will see how it tuns out.

I've used the CS scales exclusively since I don't have a shop and they work fine. The only thing to keep in mind is that they aren't completely finished when you receive them. On all of mine, they've required a bit of sanding to knock the sharp edges off the insides of the scales, but other than that, you'll be set.

What about the TI scales they do?
Also The Invisible Edge (UK) sells Dovo replacement scales (My Wapi sits in Dovo bocote) and Olivia in Germany (a member here) sells some scales in walnut, ebony, horn and ram's horn, all for around 30 Euros! Great price, was thinking of getting some myself.
If you want to make an offer I have a pair of ivory scales from an old Thomas Turner, small crack on the reverse side near the wedge. Perfectly functional.
Whatever you go for, its a great decision. It will tune the balance up nicely.

Thanked: 1262I would see if how much it would be for one of the craftsmen here to make you a basic set of acrylic scales.
Maybe even do an adjustable pin to make it easier to assemble
