I would agree with that but it would be difficult to prove one way or the other. I hope the chip is not that serious and can be honed out without too much trouble.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Interesting discussion and I totally agree that if a blade shatters when accidently hit against a faucet or sink that there would probably be a defect in the steel as some type of ding or chip would reasonably be expected with this type of accident. The latter should not be the responsibility of the manufacturer or retailer. I have seen a Dovo blade that had a fissure running along the spine at the toe of the razor and Dovo replaced it without question. Obviously, someone dropping a razor or hitting it against something causing chipping or dings is another story especially when explained as just being there or appearing. The good news is that as stated before, the damage can usually be repaired and the razor made quite usable.

    Have fun,

    Lynn

I agree with you guys. It's a shame that we never got to see the pictures of the damage, because I think it might be apparent in a photo whether the chip was or was not the result of a fissure or internal defect in the steel.

I hope the boyfriend appreciates the research his girl is putting into this!

I went back through the thread to find an example of someone who had pleasant customer service experience with Dovo. I was not surprised to read here that Lynn had received excellent custmor service. As I said before, I would expect nothing less from a company like Dovo.

Well, maybe that's because Dovo's customers are usually retailers. As in "contract law for beginners, lesson 1: a contract is a binding legal agreement between a seller (in this case: a retailer) and a buyer". The three retailers I have spoken to also said Dovo were excellent to work with, and I personally contacted them once, too, and found them co-operative, helpful, and very friendly. What goes around, comes around, and all that.

Very good. When a potential customer is shopping for a product and they hear lots of good things from many people about the product, the few and far between complaints of the extreme minority becme increasingly irrelevant. As a potential future Dovo customer, I am glad to know that with Dovo, I'm not only buying a razor, but customer service that stands behind the product.

tabre, you have it right. The warranty and guarantee that Dovo puts in with each razor is not meant to be for the retailer, it is for the INDIVIDUAL that buys that razor, whether it be from Dovo themselves, or through an authorized retailer of Dovo products.

And if you don't think that's true, then go to ANY retailer and ask them what you should do about a defective product you bought from them...9/10 you will be directed to contact the MANUFACTURER.

On a side note, I can't believe we're still talking about this.
