Thread: Old time barber knowledge

I went to visit an old time barber in my area last week, but he was not in. I was told he is 86 years old and only works two days a week now. I left a card that I made up that says, I collect old shaving stuff and he called today.
I went in and he was very personable. He sold me a re-handled Beau Brummel in very nice shape. It is a German razor.
He was giving me instruction in honeing and stroping and what razors he liked and I hung on every work until I told him I have a Boker with a round point.
That is when he said " It likely aint much account if it is a round point". "They were made for Fancy Dans who don't know much about them and they had to bring their razors to me to get them sharp". "Only the spike point razors are the good ones" YIKES !!! I've got to say though, the razor he sold me is really sharp.

Suppose it's easier not to nick someone elses ear with a spike point than your own lol
