Thanked: 0Great News From PUMA USA
I don't know if it has been mentioned on here yet but I have received word from PUMA USA that they will be receiving their first shipment of PUMA straight razors for US consumers from the PUMA factory located in Solingen,Germany sometime after the New Year. I was first introduced to PUMA knifes some 30 years ago when my friend brought me one of their knifes back from his visit to Germany, I still have that knife today along with a few others and I'm convinced that they make some of the finest knifes in Germany which is why they have been in business since 1769 (251 Years). They will be available for sell through select PUMA dealers and directly from PUMA USA , you can also go to Puma's main web site to view some of their razors.

If you get one could you post a report/review on it?I think a lot of us would be interested, but have a little trepidation as to the quality of the new razors being as good as the vintage ones that are still widely sought after.

Welcome to SRP. Here is an interesting web site with Puma Knife dating guides, company history and some vintage knives for sale. He doesn't bother dating knives past 1982 because that was the last year that IIRC the original Puma company made cutlery.
The Puma company was sold around '83 and the quality suffered from what I understand. I've got some of the vintage Puma razors and knives and they live up to their reputation. I'm not sure who is using the name now. I hope their razors are as good as the vintage production.
Edit; Upon further research, the Puma co was sold in 1991. The new owners moved some production to Spain and switched over to CNC machining and laser technology.Last edited by JimmyHAD; 12-24-2009 at 12:00 AM.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought I saw someplace they were connected to Gerber now.
I agree their own razors and knives were primo but the new stuff is mostly asian. Their top of the line stuff is made in germany but I don't know about the quality. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I thought the PUMA razor production had been halted since they made the vintage ones? Are we looking at new startup by puma or rebranding?
Here's a few pictures of those
