Thanked: 0What is this??
Hey everyone. I've been using a straight for some time now, but since this is my first thread I suppose I am still a noob. Anyway, when I was back home over the holidays my father handed me a SR that he said was my great grandfather's. Considering what its been through over the years, its in decent shape (some surface rust, slight taper to the toe, cracked scales).
After sanding off some rust to see how it would take to a basic hone, I consulted Google to try and find more information about this razor, but to no avail. I'll try to throw some pictures up here tomorrow, but on the tang it says:
10 Columbia Razor Co.
Germany
The only result I found was from an older post by gentleman on here named Leighton, but I was unsuccessful at sending him a PM. If any of you guys (or girls) can provide me with any information about this straight, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

There is a leighton that frequents the B&B forum. Maybe that will prove helpful in your quest.

Thanked: 522Columbia
There was a Columbia razor made by the Columbia Cutlery Co. in Columbia Pennsylvania.
This may not be the same company because it was made in USA. Put up a pic for us.

Welcome to SRP. A lot of USA distributors had razors made in Solingen with their names stamped on the tangs. No telling who made it AFAIK. If it is a vintage Solingen it is probably a good shaver if the condition is good.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 0Well here are the pics, but since I had to take them with my phone you're not gonna like the quality any more than I do.
An overall image
The tang. Like I said before, it says:
10 Columbia Razor Co.
Germany
The scales repaired with wire

Thanked: 0I forgot that pictures aren't available anymore once I log off my online account where the pics are originally posted. If it happens again, you should be able to access them at the link below. Sorry about that.
