W&B Special Antique Store Find...
Hell Fellas,
I posted a few days ago about a few razors I came across at an antique shop local to my girlfriends place. Well yesterday I went back and decided to pick up one of them, it's a W&B Special that seems (to me at least, still a noob here) in excellent shape. The scales are nothing special, not sure if they are originals or not. I am guessing not because I thought that the word "Special" was fixated to the original scales. THis blade does not have that. It is a little unique though in that it has a barber's notch. I did some searching and all the "Specials" I found were said to be mostly 5/8 without the notch. I did read someplace that there were a small handful of 6/8 with barber notches produced though... How can I tell if this is a 5/8 or 6/8? Anyone know anything more about this razor? Oh and I picked her up for 15.00
Oh here are the pics... My girlfriend's camera is a bit older so they aren't the greatest quality but not too bad. It came in the original box too!

Thanked: 14Great find! For a few bucks more you could get that professionally honed up and be all set. Happy shaving!

Nice razor. It does look like a rescale. Note the pin/washer at the pivot. Looks to be in good shape. You measure the width of the blade from the top of the spine to the bottom of the cutting edge to come up with 5/8, 6/8 or what have you. Some companies measure from the edge of the shoulder where the hollow grind starts but top to bottom is what I go by. + 1 on getting it pro honed.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
