    Default Re-Scaling a Razor cost?

What is a good estimate for the cost of re-scaling a razor? I picked up a Henckels and as soon as I got it home I dropped it on the bathroom floor. The scales broke. Luckily, it looks like the blade was not damaged.

Any ideas? Basic scales, nothing to fancy.

About $10. You can get a basic set of scales from Classic Shaving for that much, and I believe it includes the necessary washers, collar, and pin. A small hammer and either a hacksaw blade or wire cutter are the only tools you need. You can do it yourself in about 5 minutes.

Well, I don't know about 5 minutes. There's a knack to repining and some have it and some don't.

If you decide to go with those Dovo Scales make sure you ask if they are going to fit...

The measurement from the tang hole to the toe the longest way possible on the razor has to be less than the measurement from the pivot hole to the wedge on the scales... The reason I bring this up is you said Henckles and sometimes they are rather longish...

If these will fit and you need help getting them on just PM me I will talk you through it or do them for you (No charge)... It isn't that hard, but as Spendur said there is a special "touch" to pinning that takes practice...
