Twin Duck
A couple weeks ago I got a beautiful Twin Duck in the mail. These were the first ducks I believe. Anyways. Pics to come. Bone handle, hammered+blacked tang, 4/8s SINGING hollow. I just wanted to comment on a few things I LOVE about this razor.
-Once I worked it out it took an absolutely KILLER edge off my Thury.
-I love the bone scales. I know for a fact that this is one of the first gen, and thereby oldest, ducks, and the hinge pin looks original, so these are original scales and they are not warped in the least. (same can be said of an ivory set I have on another) I'm really impressed with that. +1 for natural materials
-The grind brings a new meaning to singing hollow. Everything about it is loud and its quite the experience. She scrapes on the hone, purrs on linen, zings on leather, and makes that weird butter toast noise on my face.
-4/8s is SOOOOO underappreciated. They are quite stiff even at very hollow grinds, offer a lot more visibility and maneuverability. Sure they might be a little small for beginners but they are definitely just as good as the big boys I feel.
This is a terrible razor. Please send me all twin ducks you have right now for disposal.
PS: Now that I have mine I don't mind driving the prices up lol.Last edited by khaos; 01-11-2010 at 08:10 PM.

Here are the ebay stock pics I will get better ones soon. BTW- STOLE IT @ 20 bucks. It was almost NOS, no hone wear at all, no rust or tarnish, just a few scratches. WOW.

Karl, I have one too. I think it is a 5/8 but I am at work and it is at home so I can't say for sure. I will say that I too got a great edge and shave out of mine and it too has bone scales and a hammered tang. I don't know if it is the first of the ducks or not, thebigspendur might be able to confirm that.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I'm pretty sure it went Bresnick-Bresduck-Pearlduck, so I would assume it is quite old.
