Default Vintage Bokers v. New Bokers

Thought I would seek some input on Bokers. I have been eyeing a new Boker edelweiss. Or, should I go with a vintage and have it sent off for cleaning, honing, etc.?

I'd also be interested in hearing from those that have an edelweiss and how they like it compared to other current production companies, for example dovo or theirs issard. Thanks!

I've seen the new Boker Edelweiss but haven't used it. I do have several vintage Bokers and always enjoy my shave with them. From what I've seen I like the quality of the new Bokers. I won't try to talk you out of a new one but if you are just starting out in straight shaving a vintage is a good value and there are enough of them out there that you can find one that just needs cleaning w/ soap and water and a fresh honing.

    GOod luck.

I have a ton of Vintage Bokers and they are among my favorite shavers. That said, I have been pretty impressed with the new Boker line and have bought several for my collection. They are fine shavers and the Edelweiss is a nice looking razor too.

Seems like SRP's out of the Edelweiss at the moment. Elsewhere it doesn't look like you can get a new, shave-ready Boker for under $150. I am pretty sure you can get at least 2 shave ready vintage Bokers for that price, perhaps just by posting something on the board here.

I have 3 vintage Bokers, and they are just superb.

I have a mint, vintage Boker Edelweiss. I really like it. If you go to the Videos section, the "New Shaving Demonstration Video" documents the first shave with that razor.

I've seen pictures of the new Bokers, but never tried them.

I have an Edelweisse that I got from SRD and its a great shaver. You cant go wrong with one of them in my opinion!

You can order them direct from Boker from their website, but it most likely wont be shave ready so you'll probably have to send it out.

Can't speak for the new ones (though if Lynn rates them, they must be alright) but my vintage Edelweiss is a bit of a go to blade at the moment. (PM to self, must post pictures and join the brotherhood).
