Thanked: 0TI 6/8 Festonne Decorated Back
Hi. I was wondering if anyone used this razor? Is it slanted? It looks like 7/8 on the toe and 6/8 on the heel. This is going to be my second razor. I bought a DOVO "classic black" 5/8 razor that was honed by Lynn but it just sucked. My technique probably wasnt the best but I have read that the razor itself is not great at all and even the bismarks and black ebony are way better. So im looking to buy something that is worth it and shaves excellent. Is the slant something more experienced users go with? I wanted the Dubl Duck WE but can't find that and don't want to buy a chipped razor from bay. Thanks.

Thanked: 48with all due respect the dovo in question suckest not. a razor honed by lynn is a wisker wacker of the frist order.and my last dovo honed by dovo wasnt too shabby either. the best sharpest wonderedge isnt going to turn you into a master shaver overnight. its a lots of new skills that must be mastered. stroping ,face prep, lather making and then yes shaving.try this
hot shower lots of soap and water on the face a good soak with hair conditioner and then lather up. agood stropping to the razor light strokes with abought a pound of pressure tension on the strop , tight but you dont haft to pull it out of the wall.wash the lather off and relather. start on the sideburn area with the width of the spine off your face short strokes . light touch. and see if its gets any better. the touch is what has to be learned,if the touch is right the razor can be less than perfect and the angle off and you will still get a good shave
hope this helps take your time and enjoy

Thanked: 0Oh I don't think Lynn's honing has anything to do with it. From what I hear, he is one of the best honemeisters out there. I think its the razor itself and my technique. more my technique but I believe he stated himself that the bismarck or even the ebony is a much better shave than the dovo classic black which is their cheapest razor i believe.
i actually cannot shave outside the shower. my face is too sensitive even though i dont have a dense beard. my neck and chin is dense though but i do not have any shadow or anything. so i shave in the shower. i use a DE now but with the str8 my prep is different. i finish up, wrap a towel and let the steam from my shower soften the whiskers. The outside air just makes my beard catch every razor on ATG, even my DE. i just simply cant do it.
