Thanked: 2591Frankly if that secret process was indeed real and successful to make steel as hard as diamond, we would have those readily available today right?

Thanked: 4942I love the old ads.
For whatever it's worth, these razors do hone up nicely (yeah, they need honing) and provide extremely good shaves. Like a few other of the vintage razors, I wish there were more around in better condition.

...but they only need honing once!
I was actually re-reading the ad and looking at the prices on the bottom. Man if only those applied today!
Hollow ground as illustrated: $2.50
Double concave for heavy beards: $3.00
Set of two in leather case: $5.50
Carbo Magnetic strop: $1.00

Yea its seems too good to be true however what did the average wage earner make a year in say the 1920s. Maybe 2K a year. A dollar was a lot of money then.
Back in the day there were no consumer protection laws and each manufacturer wanted his product to stand out from the rest so the advertising of the day made all kinds of claims and they used all kinds of gimmicks to part you from your cash.
Nowadays we're all very sophisticated, we would never be fooled by claims made way back when right? Har Har.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 199I know there was a thread floating around about that a while ago. I also conjectured the removed steel might microchip or damage the edge, but Lynn said he has hones several magnetic blades and never had a problem, so who knows
Very true. A dollar went a LONG way back then.
Never be fooled huh? Like all those Seen On TV products? No one would EVER buy anything like that
