electric = ewwwwww
I was in a hurry today and ended up using my braun pulsonic to shave today. Wow, I never realized now much irritation it caused. It shaves closer than my dovo but that's because my technique is srill in its infancy. But man, yuck. Not gonna use that again unless its the only option.

Thanked: 235There is always the option of one or two days growth. So no need to ever dig out the old electric face chewer.

Yeah, I'd have just rocked the stubble...

When I was doing OTR trucking I used an electric because I could shave (sorta) and drive at the same time.
If you normally use a blade, it takes your face about two weeks to get used to an electric (if you choose to use one).
No thanks!

Thanked: 40I have tried many different brands of electrics and none of them do a good job with my coarse facial hair. I have used them, much to the dismay of my face, for a month at a time to make sure MY face has time to contour to the electric....?! Not a one ever gave me a good shave.
I just wake up 30 min earlier and take my time with a razor/soap I pick out and shave the way I like to shave.
Or as noted, rocking the stubble if that is a possibility.

I too have tried the major brands of electric razors, and found none that would give me a close shave without lots of irritation. They do have one advantage, though. I have used them in the past to shave when late for work , while driving (I know, I know-distracted driver! I don't ever do that now.) Can't do that with a straight!

The problem with electrics is that they dont always cut the hair, instead they pull it out as the hair gets snarled up in the blades of the head.
The other problem is that most electric razors are used on a dry beard so they take several chops to get through the hair, rather than just slicing through it cleanly. So you get a rougher end to the hair and more pulling.
I used to find my electric pulled loads if I hadnt shaved for a few days.
Mine is just sitting on top of the bathroom cabinet with a flat battery! I havent used it in ages. I use a straight 99% of the time and the other 1% is when I'm in a rush and then I use a DE.

tried one of those Braun things - terrible, didn't even giv eme a shave it was that bad.
I've been uning a Philishave for many years, so long the battery doesn't charge (use it mains only). Since using straights the electric hasn't come out of the drawer.. that was about 3 months ago - never looked back siince.
