    Default W. S. Searle Razor

    Hello,

I was recently given an old strainght razor by my wife. It is amazing all the things she has aquired over time.

It is a wedge with the following stamp, "W. S. Searle Warranted". I did a little Internet search, but no luck. I will post some pictures of the razor when I get home today.

Just looking for any information on this razor and the company who produced it.

    Thanks for any infomation.

Hi there! I'm not familiar with that mark, but there are lot's of little known razors that are great shavers. Can't wait to see pics... do you plan on sending it out to a honemeister? (If not, you should consider it.)

Cool! There are lots of good "unknown" names out there that make excellent shavers. Hope to see pics soon!

here are some picture of my first straight razor. I'm thinking about sending it out to be honed. The cutting edge is just under 3 inches in width and the distance from the edge to the spine 3/4 inches. The spine is just a hair over 3/8 inches.

I know I have seen the name before but cannot recall where. Someone with the Goins book will probably be able to give some specific info. The razor looks good in the photo. Certainly good enough to have it honed and to get plenty of use out of it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks. I plan on sending it out for honing. I just need to decide on a good strop, brush, and soap.
