Thanked: 0Broken Dovo
I had a Dovo Special with Tortoise scales.
Today I managed to drop it and now have a rather deep and wide scalloped chip out of the blade. As this is a favored blade I am saddened. Thankfully, it can be replaced and nobody got hurt.
I would estimate the depth of the chip to be 1/8+" and it runs about a 1/2" from about a 1/4" from the end of the blade to between the D and the O in Dovo. After searching around the site I see that most would consider the blade a goner.
That being said. I have always thought that a shorter blade would be a especially nice when shaving the back of my neck, also as a cyclist, the legs "in season". I see that others use shorter blades.
So my questions then are:
Is shortening a blade something that I can do myself with a Dremel?
Does anyone have suggestions as to which Dremel attachements might work best both for cutting then shaping? I am comfortable with the tool just never did this before. So a little guidance would go a long way
Or is this process best left to a pro along with a good hone? Be honest.
Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to post pics and any knowledge gather in the process if I proceed with this adaptation.
Thanks in advance. Robert
