    Default QUESTION ON PUMA

I bought a Puma at a show yesterday, and I believe it is probably unused, without a box. The blade is only hollow ground on one side, and flat on the other. It is marked no. 16 INOX, and Eisgehartet Frozen Steel. The scales are yellow, and there is no Puma shield or markings on them. My question is, Is this an older or newer razor, are the scales original, and when you sharpen this, do you only sharpen from the hollow ground side? Any info would help, Thanks.

Sounds to be one of the many Microtomes out there... and yes Puma did make them too..

These are flat on one side because there are used in the lab to cut tissue samples...

Search out JimmyHAD's thread on honing one up, it can be used for shaving...

there ya go Sham and I were thinking alike

I paid 50.00 dollars for this Puma. Did I give too much?

They are not for face shaving, so from one perspective you paid too much.

Here is a thread on honing one of those. I paid $50 for mine as well. If you get it to where it will shave it is worth it. OTOH, I'll never buy another.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

They can be honed up and become good shavers.
