I bought a Russian straight several months ago and all it needed was a good honing. It won't win a beauty contest, but it's a great shaver. I wouldn't hesitate on another...

I have a Russian-market razor in my collection. It doesn't look nice, it doesn't feel right in your hand but it does shave beautifully.

Haven't tried to clean it or hone it yet, but I got a 5/8 Stiz yesterday at a local antique shop. Mild hone wear, but it has an even bevel, and most of it is shiny with some original grind marks.

Inscribed Столичная (Stolichnaya) on the blade with MMMMMM under it. On the tang, it also says Столичная and then the Stiz logo (seen here) with 64 right after it.

Sorry for the lack of good pictures, but the sun sets early over the hill.

I'll do another photo in better light after I get her cleaned up a little.

Столичная (Stolichnaya) - from the capital of the country(столица - capital).
MMMMMM - it's head part of the wall around Moscow Kremlin.

Thanks to all for a very helpful discussion. I've been a student of Russian language, literature, and culture for a long time but never took a chance on a straight. With this encouragement and information, I'll snag one at some point.

I have a lot of Russian-market razors. Among them exist very well shaving.
    2 photos for an example.

Won't need any other pictures of mine, now - that top one is exactly it, scales and all. Yours is in much better condition, though. Nice set!

2 more Russian razors. "Ракета" and "Столичная" (The second variant). On an edge - image St.Petersburg.
