I have seen Russian Straights on Ebay and times and have wondered if they are any good... The ones that I have seen are being sold without any information... steel, age, grind etc... Are these razors good quality? Havent been able to read much about them and am curious if they are worthwhile razors.. tnx for anyones knowledge on Russian Straight Razors.. Maq

I can say nothing bad about Russian razors. Many of them are very good shavers. Here and here you can find some info about Russian razors.

I would image depending on where and when they were made they could be very good and very bad. There was a time when they were making all this garbage for export purposes only.

Thanks everyone... that helps a lot... next time one comes up.. i'll not be hesitant... this was an ebay auction for a matching set of two in a box... they looked new to me... I wasn't sure if they were vintage or new... the shoulder had one stableizer etc... I wasn't sure if they were carbon or stainless...So thought I'd ask and at least try to get a little more info before considering a bid... maybe next time....tnx again... I appreciate the info.. Maq

Maq - I bought a Russian made razor a while back and was very pleased with it. It was very well made, honed easily, and is an excellent shaver.

    Regards - Walt
