If you've got the money to spend on a custom and still want to save a bit, check out the Le Grelot blanks that were finished off by TI. Classic Shaving, Vintage Blades and RasurPur.de all have them in stock. They're 6/8, 3/4 to full hollow and a wide variety of scales available. I picked up one of these a few weeks ago. It's my favorite razor.
Just a thought.

5/8 or 6/8?
Hello, Toplin:
By now the characteristics of each blade, the 5/8" and 6/8", have thoroughly been covered by BeBerlin and other learned gentlemen. The next move is up to you.
For me, as an example, the 4/8" blade is small and somewhat uncomfortable. I have two and hardly ever use them. I have tried the 7/8" and found it to be just a bit too big for my small hands. The one exception in my modest collection is the Thiers-Issard Spartacus "Dos Festonne" that is 6/8" at the toe and 7/8" at the point.
Most of my razors are 5/8" and 6/8". I love both widths and would not exchange one for the other.
So the 5/8" and 6/8" fall in the middle of the comfort zone. Perhaps for you, too. Go with what catches your eye and strokes your heart.
And speaking of chili, my dear Toplin, mine is currently blossoming in the kitchen as I write this post. In about an hour it will be a bouquet of spicy delights.
Regards,

I'd go 6/8. I have both sizes and the 6/8 is the one I prefer.

Thanked: 267Whatever size you get have a little longer monkey tail on it, not a lot just a little. It is a very nice option because it give you more control and it will not add much cost.
Later,
Richard
