Thanked: 13Art of Shaving Straight Razor
Hello - I'm a total newbie and searched for a thread on this but couldn't find it.
I've been looking at the starter straight razor from Art of Shaving, since I just can't sort through what is good or not in the SR classified, or Ebay etc.
Are these considered good blades? Or am I getting fleeced?

Ebay translated to razor is: Buy a project... beginners stay clear.
The "Art of Shaving" universe is light on options. If they have
what you want things are good but if not you can come up empty.
For example the local shop has no strops worth a darn. I do like
their soap... it seems to work well for me.
The SR classified and most of the sponsors on this forum have
nice kits: blade, strop, shaving soap, brush... and a quality correctly honed
blade (sharp) for fair prices. While the vendor link on the right
keeps changing most of them have a fine selection of Straight Razor Sets.
The SR classified can have some serious bargain kits based on vintage blades
depending on stock on hand.

Thanked: 346I've honed a couple of these and they're fine razors. Pricey though, as is all AOS stuff.

Thanked: 4942I would agree. I have honed a ton of these and they are very nice shavers. +1 on AOS stuff being expensive.

I bought the stainless steel scales razor......it was my first razor. I had Lynn hone it. One of my best razors.
